The Hammers will be looking to build upon that result in this weekend’s difficult clash with Chelsea but fans had a week off to enjoy the European action on the screens, where one former player caught the eye.

Former West Ham midfielder Havard Nordtveit scored for Hoffenheim in their Champions League debut on Wednesday evening, where the Bundesliga side played out a thrilling 2-2 draw with Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Norway international only spent one year with the Hammers before leaving in 2017, failing to impress with his displays, but he appears to have found his footing in Germany as a centre-back – and his unexpected goal led to plenty of reaction on social media.

West Ham fans had their say on Nordtveit’s goal and we have gathered some of the best reactions below.
