According to West Ham news website Claret & Hugh, West Ham United manager David Moyes wants to bring two new centre-backs to the club this summer to allow him to play Declan Rice as a defensive midfielder, and Irons fans have been quick to have their say on the rumour.

The 6ft 1in Republic of Ireland international has largely been playing as part of a three-man defence in recent weeks with Winston Reid and James Collins absent through injury, although he was publicly criticised by Moyes for his mistake that led to an Aaron Ramsey goal in the 4-1 defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium last weekend.

The Irons have already been linked with moves for Brighton and Hove Albion's Lewis Dunk and Swansea City's Alfie Mawson, and it seems as strengthening at the heart of the defence is the priority for the east London outfit.

West Ham supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on Moyes' latest plan for Rice, and while one said "what is he thinking", another said "Moyes is clueless if he does that".

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
