West Ham United announced on Monday that Ryan Fredericks would be out until February with the hamstring strain that he picked up against Gillingham.

The defender was named in the starting XI for the FA Cup third-round clash but had to be replaced in the 43rd minute after picking up an injury.

The Hammers have revealed that Fredericks will not be back on the field until next month, which hands new boss David Moyes a problem at right-back.

Pablo Zabaleta is an experienced head but his lack of pace has really shown this season - tellingly, the Irons have conceded in all of the games in which he's started this season.

And a number of the club's supporters believe that their side will now have to act in the transfer market.

Some of the fans have been a bit kinder to Fredericks upon learning the news, though, which is perhaps not the case for those above.

There have also been some shouts for 19-year-old Ben Johnson to be given a chance to establish himself at right-back following the injury news.

Johnson made his Premier League debut for the Hammers against Manchester City back in February 2019 but has not yet appeared for the first team this season.

Meanwhile, the Hammers are reportedly interested in improving their midfield with the signing of this particular player during the January window.
