Stoke City forward Xherdan Shaqiri impressed and scored the winning goal for Switzerland in their 2-1 win against Serbia in their second 2018 World Cup fixture on Friday, but West Ham United fans are split on whether the club should sign the 26-year-old ace.

The Potters attacker is said to be available for £12m because of a release clause in his contract following the club's relegation to the Championship last term, as per The Mirror, and he could well be in demand following his latest performance.

The former Bayern Munich and Inter Milan man was unlucky not to score with a brilliant curling effort that hit the woodwork, before he netted the winner when he ran from the halfway line and produced a composed finish late on.

West Ham supporters, who have had their say on a link to a 26-year-old centre-back described by one as "better than Reid and Rice", were quick to have their say on Shaqiri's latest display via social media, and they were split with one saying it would be a "no-brainer" to sign him, and another saying he has a "lousy work ethic".
