According to reports in Chile, West Ham United are closing in on appointing Manuel Pellegrini as David Moyes' successor at the London Stadium, and Irons fans are sure that Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure will be the Chilean's first signing if he does get the job.

Co-owner David Sullivan released a statement on Thursday to say that the east London outfit are closing in on their preferred candidate "who has a proven record of success at the highest level of the game".

The 64-year-old would certainly fit into that category given he won the Premier League title with City previously, with Toure proving to be one of his key players during that campaign.

The 35-year-old is available on a free transfer this summer after his contract at the Etihad Stadium expired, and he has previously stated that he wants to remain in England.

West Ham supporters, the majority of which previously said they would sign Toure after his extraordinary proposal, have been quick to have their say on the Ivorian and Pellegrini via social media, and while one said a move is "nailed on if Pellegrini happens", another said Pellegrini "would be a great appointment and I guarantee Yaya would follow".
