Xande Silva made quite the impression on his debut for West Ham Under-23s – scoring a hat-trick against their Tottenham Hotspur counterparts on Monday night.
Silva joined West Ham from Vitoria de Guimaraes earlier this month, with the 21-year-old penning a long-term contract at the London Stadium.
The forward will continue to represent the Under-23 side, but it might not be too long until he gets a call from first-team boss Manuel Pellegrini.
The fact that Silva’s treble came against Tottenham has made him even more popular with the West Ham fans, and many have now called for the striker to play for the senior side.
One supporter even said that Silva has the potential to end the career of Andy Carroll, who is again on the sidelines with an ankle problem.
Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez are currently the club’s two first-choice strikers, but Silva might not be too far away from the first team if he continues to find the back of the net for Liam Manning’s team.
A selection of the Twitter reaction from the West Ham fans can be seen below:
Get him in the team for Antonio

This kids got to be on the bench Saturday, one thing for sure he knows where the back of the net is.

Looks like he has that .25 of a second of extra time. There was also a little bit of @IanWright0 there too. Great debut.
