West Ham have confirmed the signing of young winger Mesaque Dju in a statement on their official website.

The 19-year-old has signed a three-year contract at the club and will link up with their Under-23 team.

Dju has played for Portugal at every youth level from Under-16 to Under-20 and was named in the Team of the Tournament at the UEFA European Under-19 Championships.

Per Transfermarkt, he made 13 appearances in the UEFA Youth League this season, as well as eight appearances in the Liga Pro. He scored a total of two goals.

Dju is also likely to play in the Under-20 World Cup this summer - which is being held in Poland - and joins compatriot Xande Silva in the Irons' Under-23 team.

However, fans have reacted to the news of the signing with typical disappointment, with many calling on the club to bring in a recognisable striker, such as Celta Vigo's Maxi Gomez or Chelsea's Olivier Giroud.
