The Daily Mail reported on Thursday that Liverpool attacker Xherdan Shaqiri could leave the club this summer after only 12 months at Anfield, and West Ham United fans would like to see the Switzerland international sign for them.

The 27-year-old joined the 2018/19 Premier League runners-up from Stoke City last year, but despite a decent enough start to his career on Merseyside he found first-team opportunities harder to come by under Jurgen Klopp in recent months – he only played 81 minutes of top flight football from the start of February onwards.

The winger still produced six goals and five assists in 30 appearances in all competitions however, and scored a hugely important brace in the 3-1 win against Manchester United at Anfield in December.

Presumably, the Reds will want to make a profit on the £13m they paid for Shaqiri last summer, but it should still leave him well within West Ham's budget.

The Irons have plenty of options in attacking areas with the likes of Marko Arnautovic, Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko and Michail Antonio, but it hasn't stopped some supporters wanting the Swiss attacker to move down south, too.

West Ham ruined Arsenal's unbeaten record at the Emirates in 2007 and history repeated itself at the weekend. Spurs fans don't take it well in the video below...

While one individual said they would take him "without a second thought", another described him as "talented and hard-working".
