Andy Carroll is yet to turn out for West Ham United this season as the centre-forward continues his recovery from ankle surgery.
Carroll has only made 34 Premier League appearances over the last two seasons due to injury, and is not yet ready to return to action.
The 29-year-old will actually see his contract with West Ham expire at the end of the current campaign, and his future is far from secure.
Carroll’s record at West Ham is actually not too bad, managing 33 goals in 128 appearances. It is not the best, but he has had some excellent moments for the club.
The Englishman – a 2013 arrival from Liverpool – has had his fair share of injury troubles, however, and it remains to be seen whether West Ham decide to exercise a two-year option on his current deal.
It would mean that the powerful striker would continue on his massive wages, and the West Ham fans are not all that keen when considering that Declan Rice is currently struggling to agree a new deal with the club.
A selection of the Twitter reaction from the club’s fans can be seen below:
What dilemma? Part ways.

I’ll admit on his day he is unstoppable, however, given the fact we get about 9 of those days per year…£85k a week could go a long way. Like giving Declan Rice a deal he deserves for starters

Get rid and find someone else who will play more regularly!

That’s not a dilemma. Just get rid of him. What’s the alternative? Give him another 2 years where he picks up £85k a week for sitting in the treatment room again. It’s a no brainer. He has to go.
