Speaking to Swiss outlet Blick, former West Ham man Fabio Daprela shared his thoughts on Albian Ajeti's move to West Ham, and revealed why he thinks the supporters will love their new signing.

Ajeti joined the Hammers in an £8m move from FC Basel in the summer window, having scored 15 goals in 35 games for the Swiss side last season.

The Switzerland international arrives to provide competition for Sebastien Haller and Javier Hernandez, after Andy Carroll and Marko Arnautovic both left the club.

What did he say?

When asked about his former side and what Ajeti will bring, Daprela told Blick: "They appreciate a sliding tackle more than a goal!

"What matters to them is the fighting attitude that the players show on the pitch.

"The fans will love him because he is a kind of player who will not shy away from a fight for the shirt."

No Arnautovic repeat

It was well documented that Arnautovic had an attitude problem, and he caused distress amongst the supporters for his antics and consequential lacklustre performances following the submission of a transfer request back in January.

One fan suggested that his heart wasn't in it anymore after a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, amidst a whole barrage of responses stating that the Austrian wasn't even trying anymore in a claret and blue shirt.

Nobody wants to go through that experience with a player at their club, and many fans were thrilled when he eventually left the club after the disrespect he had shown.

Luckily, judging by Daprela's words about Ajeti, the London Stadium faithful will not have to go through what they did with Arnautovic with their new 22-year-old forward - that should surely put smiles on West Ham faces and ensure that they look forward to the future with their £8m summer recruit.
