Former West Ham United target Charlie Austin scored a brace as Southampton beat Everton 4-1 at St Mary's on Sunday, and Irons fans wish their club had signed the striker.

The east London outfit were keen to bring the centre-forward in when he was with QPR, but their owners pulled out of a deal believing that the 28-year-old had dodgy knees.

However, Austin has gone on to score 13 goals in 39 appearances in all competitions for Saints since joining them from Rangers in 2015, and he found the net with two brilliant headers against the Merseyside outfit on Sunday.

West Ham supporters were quick to have their say on his performance via social media, and while one said "I wish he played for West Ham", another said "why we didn't sign Austin when we had the chance, I will never know".
