West Ham identify Reid replacement ahead of summer move

West Ham have already set their sights on Genk defender Kara Mbodj to replace Winston Reid as they prepare to lose the Kiwi international in the summer, Mirror reports.

The 25-year-old Senegal international has been highly praised for his defensive qualities in the Blegium league this season and is now a top candidate to reinforce the Hammers’ back line.

Although Sam Allardyce wants to keep hold of Reid, the 26-year-old has already revealed his decision to reject a new contract and leave Upton Park on a free transfer.

The Mirror claim that the Hammers boss was already planning to make a move for Mbodj during the January transfer window, but with the player representing his national team at the African Cup of Nations, he was unable to negotiate terms ahead of Deadline Day.

He is highly tipped to make his exit due to interest from the Premier League, but Genk will be doing all they can to convince him to remain where he is.
