West Ham keen on Manchester City outcast

West Ham have been alerted by Joleon Lescott’s Manchester City situation, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The England international’s future at the Etihad Stadium is currently the subject of much doubt, with rumours suggesting that he may be allowed to leave in the coming weeks.

Tottenham and Newcastle have been linked with loan swoops for the 31-year-old, and it has now emerged that the Hammers are also interested.

Lescott is thought to have no future under Manuel Pellegrini at the club, and is unlikely to be presented with a new contract before his current deal expires in six months’ time.

West Ham are known to be in the market for a centre-back due to a minor injury crisis at the club, and were believed to have been close to agreeing a deal for John Heitinga.

However, the proposed move has collapsed, forcing Sam Allardyce to look at alternative options.

Lescott is seen as a realistic target, with ‘Big Sam’ prepared to offer him guaranteed action for the remainder of the season – which could tempt the former Everton man ahead of the 2014 World Cup.

The City enforcer may be available for a loan move if Martin Demichelis shakes off his injury worries, but West Ham are likely t ask for his £90,000-per-week earnings to be subsidised.
