West Ham line up former Chelsea star

Lille forward Salomon KalouWest Ham are plotting a £2.5m move for ex-Chelsea attacker Salomon Kalou, according to reports from The Mirror.

The Hammers are hopeful of luring the Ivorian back to the Premier League from Lille, whom he moved to from the Blues last summer.

It has emerged that a release clause in his contract with the French outfit would allow Sam Allardyce to conclude a deal for just £2.5m.

With big money arrival Andy Carroll likely to miss the start of next season through injury and a move for Colombian hit-man Duvan Zapata having been thwarted by work permit issues, the Londoners are keen to take advantage of Kalou’s situation.

The 27-year-old could be tempted by a return to England, where he enjoyed a successful stint at Stamford Bridge.

Lille have recently lost manage Rudi Garcia to Roma, leaving them in a state of uncertainty ahead of the new campaign.

Los Dogues also missed out on European qualification as they finished the last Ligue 1 season in sixth position, which could tempt Kalou to seek a move.

Allardyce sees the versatile attacker as a great addition to his armoury due to his ability to operate on either flank or as a centre-forward.
