West Ham looking towards 17-goals-in-35-games striker as Bacca hopes fade

West Ham are looking at Toulouse goal-machine Wissam Ben Yedder as their hopes of luring Carlos Bacca to east London wane, according to reports from the Mirror.

The Hammers have been searching for a ‘marquee’ striking addition for much of the summer, but have thus far failed to bring in the calibre of star wanted.

Moves for Alexandre Lacazette and Carlos Tevez have both collapsed, which has left Bacca as the player the Irons are seeking, but with the 29-year-old stalling on an offer from the Olympic Stadium side, their hopes of landing the AC Milan ace appear slim.

And reports claim that West Ham are already looking at alternatives, with Ben Yedder a target.

The 25-year-old, who was a target for Slaven Bilic’s side last year, plundered 17 goals in 35 Ligue 1 games last season – making him the division’s joint fourth highest scorer – which is an impressive tally given that his team only narrowly avoided relegation.

Ben Yedder is valued at around £8m, making him much more cost-effective than the £26m-rated Bacca.
