West Ham midfield maestro attracting interest from abroad

West Ham United midfielder Alex Song has emerged as a summer transfer target for Italian giants Inter Milan, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 27-year-old former Cameroon international has spent the season on loan at Upton Park from La Liga leaders Barcelona and was hugely impressive during the first half of the campaign as the Irons made a strong case for European qualification.

However, Song’s performances have dipped in recent times and have coincided with West Ham’s slide down the table. The midfielder has been accused of being too inconsistent, which could see him leave the club at the end of the campaign once his loan spell comes to an end.

Should Song decide to leave West Ham, Roberto Mancini’s Inter Milan are one club who retain a strong interest in the player.

The London club are also prepared to sell skipper Kevin Nolan. The 32-year-old is deemed surplus to requirements as the Hammers look to sign players for the future ahead of their move to the Olympic Stadium for the 2016/17 season.
