[ad_pod ]Ex-West Ham United Employee has placed doubt over the club’s reported swoop for Eibar midfielder Joan Jordan.

What’s the word?

Jordan had been heavily linked with a switch to the Hammers, with Sky Sports reporting earlier this month that West Ham made a £13m bid for the 24-year-old.

A recent article from Marca, however, claims that the defensive midfielder would rather complete a move to Sevilla this summer.

Ex-West Ham United Employee then answered a question from a supporter asking if the transfer was in doubt, and it appears it very much is.

Jordan made 38 appearances in all competitions in 2018/19, scoring four goals and laying on four assists.

A rethink needed

West Ham desperately need defensive midfield cover.

A move for Jordan did seem to come out of nowhere, with few fans likely to know exactly who the Eibar star is.

One has to assume that the club had done their due diligence though, and felt that he could be a low-cost and low-risk acquisition, filling a position of need.

Now though, the club desperately needs to move on and identify a new target swiftly.

As it stands, Declan Rice is the only guaranteed defensive midfield starter at the club; Pedro Obiang isn’t really good enough while Mark Noble is ageing.

The England international needs help; if the Jordan deal isn’t going to happen, the Hammers have to find a defensive midfielder deal that will.
