West Ham plot late deal for Italian

Fabio Quagliarella, JuventusWest Ham are planning a late move for Juventus striker Fabio Quagliarella, according to reports from The Mirror.

The Hammers have been strongly linked with the Italian over the course of the past few weeks, but haven’t made an official offer.

But, Sam Allardyce is now ready to change this with a deadline day raid for the 30-year-old.

‘Big Sam’ is desperate to bolster his striking options before the transfer window closes, despite having secured a big money move for Andy Carroll this summer.

However, with the England international injured and Carlton Cole having been released, the East Londoners have only Modibo Maiga to turn to.

Allardyce is thought to believe that Quagliarella would add experience and guile in the final third, and could form a promising partnership with Carroll when fit.

The forward has also attracted attention from both Norwich and Arsenal at various points during the transfer window.

With the Juve man also able to operate from a wide position, his arrival could signal the end of Ricardo Vaz Te’s Upton Park career.

The Portuguese winger has been linked with moves to Crystal Palace, Swansea and Cardiff after falling down the pecking order under Allardyce.
