West Ham plotting fresh Spurs raid this summer

West Ham are ready to make another move for Spurs outcast Emmanuel Adebayor this summer after failing to get him to Upton Park during the winter window, according to reports from The Mirror.

The Hammers chased the Togo international in the run up to the last transfer deadline, but despite all but agreeing a loan move for him, the deal collapsed at the last minute when Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy stepped in to block the switch.

West Ham’s status as European qualification rivals at the time was the major issue, but the club’s dip in form since then has brought about a more relaxed stance from the Lilywhites.

Adebayor has, in the meantime, continued to be a background figure at White Hart Lane, and removing his £100,000-per-week salary from their outgoings is appealing to Spurs.

The Irons are still very much interested, although a loan deal to see out his last year as a Spurs player ahead of a potential free transfer looks the likely scenario.

One issue could be West Ham’s desire for the London rivals to pay part of Adebayor’s massive weekly wage.
