West Ham set for transfer disappointment

Free agent Carlton ColeWest Ham are set to miss out on re-signing Carlton Cole, with the striker believed to be closing in on a move to QPR, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The ex-Chelsea youth man was released by the Hammers at the end of last season, but has already been linked with a return to Upton Park.

Sam Allardyce has turned to the 29-year-old following Andy Carroll’s continuing injury woes and missing out of a number of attacking targets over the summer.

One move for Cole has already collapsed due to fitness concerns, but the striker is still training with the club in a bid to prove he is worthy of a new contract.

However, QPR are now set to steal him away from ‘Big Sam’, as Harry Redknapp searches for a new forward.

The Super Hoops have seen their attacking options hit by injury, tempting ‘Arry back into the transfer market.

With Cole unattached, he is keen to push through a quick deal.

Redknapp is desperate to get the Loftus Road-based side back into the top tier, and feels that the experience of the ex-Irons forward could be vital.

Cole was linked with summer moves to Saint-Etienne, Hull, Crystal Palace and a number of Turkish sides.

Should West Ham make a late move to get Carlton Cole back?
