West Ham set sights on Barcelona star (not Song)

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic is eager to set up a reunion with Croatia starlet Alen Halilovic at Upton Park this summer, according to reports from talkSPORT.

The new Hammers chief has already been active in the transfer market since the opening of the window, adding star names such as Pedro Obiang and Dimitri Payet to his ranks ahead of the 2015/16 campaign.

And now he’s looking to snap up one of Europe’s most highly-rated youngsters, with reports claiming the club have made an approach for Barcelona’s Halilovic.

The 19-year-old, dubbed the ‘Croatian Lionel Messi’, is believed to be looking to secure regular playing time after making just one senior appearance for Barca since his 2014 move to the Spanish club.

The skilful attacking midfielder has spent his time in the club’s ‘B’ team, who were relegated to the third tier after finishing rock bottom of the Segunda Division last term, and his path into the full set-up appears to be blocked by a host of talented players.

Reports suggest that both West Ham and Real Betis have made enquiries regarding the teenager’s availability, but the Irons may hold the upper hand due to the player’s relationship with Bilic from their time together in the Croatia set-up.
