West Ham set to battle Arsenal for Senegal ace

Demba Ba - Chelsea

Demba Ba could be a transfer target for West Ham, reports the Daily Mirror.

The Chelsea striker has made just one appearance for the Blues this season, as he battles with Fernando Torres, Romelu Lukaku and new signing Samuel Eto’o for a starting place.

But the Senegalese forward could be leaving Stamford Bridge on loan. Despite reported interest from Arsenal, the Hammers are also keen on signing the striker on a season-long deal.

Ba played 12 times for West Ham in the 2010/11 season, scoring 7 goals in his first ever season of English football. But after West Ham were relegated from the Premier League, Ba activated a clause in his contract allowing him to leave on a free transfer, before eventually joining Newcastle.

And it’s believed that West Ham are keen to bring Ba back to Upton Park. Sam Allardyce has spent £15million on signing forward Andy Carroll, but with the former Liverpool man still injured, the Hammers boss could try and add Ba to his strike options at the club.

Reports suggest that Ba is not being forced out of Stamford Bridge, but is welcome to join a club on loan if he wishes. Chelsea have made it clear they are looking for another striker, and whilst they may not have enough time to bring one in, it has raised questions over Ba’s role at the club this season.

Would Ba be a good signing for West Ham? Should he go back to Upton Park?
