According to reports in The Daily Mail on Saturday, West Ham United centre-back Issa Diop is a £50m target for Paris Saint-Germain and there is one big reason why Irons manager Manuel Pellegrini shouldn't be afraid to sanction a big-money exit deal.
What's the word, then?
Well, The Daily Mail reported that PSG are long-term admirers of the highly-rated 21-year-old and are considering a move to bring him back to France following the impressive start he has made to his Hammers career.
The club-record buy has formed a strong partnership with Fabian Balbuena at the heart of the east London outfit's defence so far this term, and now the Ligue 1 giants could be prepared to pay up to £50m to bring him to the Parc des Princes.
While West Ham clearly won't want to lose one of their better players who clearly has so much potential, there is one reason aside from the money why Pellegrini needn't worry about letting the France U21 international go.
What reason is that?
It seems likely that despite his price tag, the Chilean manager would have been expecting the experienced Balbuena to make more of an impact in the starting XI at the start of the season than Diop.
However, both players have indeed shone – perhaps Balbuena even more than his defensive teammate following the praise from his own fans on Twitter after Saturday's 1-1 draw against Leicester City – and his impressive performances should mean that Pellegrini would be confident of finding another good partner for him if he did choose to take £50m for the young Irons centre-back.
Given they have only just got him an exit would obviously be an unpopular decision, but it is a move and transfer fee that could allow the club to be stronger in the long term, with Balbuena more than capable of marshalling the club's backline.
