According to The Scottish Sun, Celtic are keen on a loan swoop for Manchester United's Scott McTominay as the midfielder falls out of favour under new management - West Ham should throw a spanner in the Hoops' works by making a move that will surely please everyone.

What's the word?

Well, The Scottish Sun reports that the 22-year-old, who was crowned Jose Mourinho's Player of the Year last campaign, could be available for a six-month loan spell after playing just one minute of Prem football under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Scotsman's departure could hinge on whether Marouane Fellaini leaves this month but, nevertheless, there are a string of British clubs lining up to battle for his signature, including Parkhead outfit, Celtic.

Meanwhile, the Hammers are lacking in depth after a slew of injuries to a number of key players and are surely on the hunt for some reinforcements - they should throw their hat in the ring for top-flight-proven McTominay rather than splashing more cash.

Pellegrini, Gold, Sullivan all pleased

Having shelled out nearly £100m as Manuel Pellegrini took the helm, chairmen David Gold and David Sullivan are seemingly reluctant to arm the Chilean with much more cash this month - this has manifested in the links to out-of-action Everton man James McCarthy, for instance.

Declan Rice has been in great form this season but is in need of some assistance at the base of midfield - having an assured defensive-midfield partnership would give the likes of Felipe Anderson more license to do damage on the front foot.

McTominay is calm on the ball and uses it well and, at 6-foot-3, would strike a scary partnership with Rice that few would like to come up against.

The main appeal with this one, though, is that it would cost the Irons next to nothing and solve their midfielder deficiency straight away, without the need to gamble on a player that is being let go on the cheap due to their age or injury history, for instance.
