West Ham should move for Dack, but not at £20m

According to The Sun, West Ham United and Crystal Palace will go head-to-head for the signature of Blackburn Rovers midfielder Bradley Dack.

What’s the story?

Dack is one of the most in-demand midfielders in the Championship, having made a very strong start to the 2018-19 campaign.

Indeed, the 24-year-old has scored nine times and registered three assists in 17 Championship appearances this season.

Dack only signed a new contract with Blackburn in June, and his current deal will run until the end of the 2020-21 campaign.

However, according to The Sun, both West Ham and Palace want to bring him to the Premier League, and the pair are preparing offers of £20m.

It is not a surprise to see that Premier League clubs are interested in Dack, but £20m does seem a touch steep, even considering the state of the current market.

Would Dack fit in at West Ham?

Dack is a very good footballer, and certainly one capable of having a big impact in the Premier League.

Blackburn will not be in a rush to sell, however, as they are very much in the mix for the playoff positions at this stage of the season.

That said, when considering that Dack cost Blackburn just £750,000 from Gillingham in 2017, £20m sounds very appealing to the Championship club.

It is certainly worth West Ham having a serious look at the 5ft 9in ace, but coming in with an offer of around the £13m mark seems a bit more realistic.

Manuel Lanzini is not a million miles away from returning from a serious knee injury, and the fact that Dack is unproven at Premier League level does make his potential signing a bit of a risk.
