According to the Daily Mail, West Ham United are interested in signing Le Havre centre-back Harold Moukoudi in this summer's transfer window.

What's the story?

New West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini is believed to be keen to sign another central defender this summer despite already boosting that area of the field.

Indeed, Issa Diop and Fabian Balbuena have arrived from Toulouse and Corinthians respectively this summer, whilst Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko, Lukasz Fabianski, Ryan Fredericks and Jack Wilshere have also made the move to the Hammers.

According to the Daily Mail, Pellegrini's search for a centre-back has led him to Le Havre youngster Moukoudi.

The 20-year-old will see his current deal expire at the end of next season, and it is understood that West Ham are interested in a move.

That said, the London club will seemingly face competition from Premier League rivals Burnley, with the Clarets believed to have made an enquiry ahead of the new season.

What are Moukoudi's credentials?

A four-time France Under-20 international, Moukoudi came through the youth system at Le Havre, and has since developed into a first-team regular.

The centre-back will not turn 21 until the latter stages of this year, but made 44 appearances in all competitions for his French club last term.

The Frenchman also contributed four goals in Ligue 2 last season, and standing at 6ft 3in, he has the potential to be a powerhouse in the Premier League.

However, having already signed a young defender in Diop, they don't need another and they should be targeting a more experienced central defender instead.
