West Ham so close to heroics

West Ham United have struggled in the Premier League this season, sitting 16th with just 12 points from 12 games, and their move to London’s Olympic Park hasn’t quite brought the riches on the field that Hammers fans would have hoped.

Slaven Bilic was an inspiration at the Boelyn Ground last season but he hasn’t yet been able to transfer those sort of performances to the London Stadium, although they do seem to be close- if they can just find a way to hold onto the lead once they take it.

After taking the lead at Old Trafford yesterday, before being held to a draw, it was further evidence of what might have been for the Hammers.

Had they managed to¬†hold onto the lead in the games where they’ve dropped points, West Ham would be sitting pretty in sixth, above Manchester United, and would be amongst the fight for European football.

Instead, the Hammers will be left looking over their shoulder as they’re just one point above the relegation zone and things won’t get any easier in the coming weeks, as West Ham clash with Arsenal and Liverpool in their next two games.
