West Ham table club-record bid to obliterate Liverpool & Spurs in heated striker battle

According to reports from The Guardian, West Ham have launched a £31million bid for Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Michy Batshuayi.

The prodigious striker has been in fine form for Marseille this season, notching up 16 goals and nine assists in 35 Ligue 1 appearances despite the Stade Velodrome outfit languishing in mid-table.

That has generated plenty of interest in the 22-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window, with The Guardian documenting Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Serie A champions Juventus as long-term admirers.

But according to the British newspaper, West Ham have attempted to blow their Premier League rivals out of the water with a £31million transfer bid  for Batshuayi – a figure neither the Reds nor the Lilywhites are likely to match.

That would constitute a new record transfer fee for the East London club, more than doubling the £15million they spent on Andy Carroll in summer 2013.

However, the Hammers still face significant competition for the Belgium international’s signature from Juventus.
