West Ham have made Manchester City’s defensive duo of Micah Richards and Matija Nastasic their top targets for the last two weeks of the transfer window, according to reports from the London Evening Standard.
The Sky Blues have deemed both enforcers surplus to requirements recently, and the Hammers have responded by enquiring ahead of raids both.
Sam Allardyce faces a mini backline crisis ahead his side’s weekend game against Crystal Palace with Winston Reid his only fit centre-half, which has rather forced the club’s hand in terms of getting new players in.
Nastasic would appear to be an ambitious target for the Irons, with a host of clubs – including Arsenal and Juventus – rumoured to be after the Serbian.
Richards however could be a realistic option; with the powerful and versatile defender looking for a new challenge after an injury ravaged few years.
The duo would cost around £19m – the former is valued at £12m, while the latter is believed to be available for around £7m – but West Ham are thought to be seeking loan deals.
