West Ham turn to surprise problem-solving star, available for £4.2m

West Ham are considering a move for Palermo’s Achraf Lazaar as a replacement for the injured Aaron Creswell, according to reports from Goal.

The Hammers are set to be without their Englishman for around four months after he picked up a nasty knee injury in pre-season friendly action.

Offers for both Martin Olsson and Kieran Gibbs have already been rejected as the Irons desperately search for a short-term option, and reports claim that Palermo’s Lazaar has emerged as their latest target.

The Moroccan has just entered the final 12 months of his contract with the Serie A side, who are demanding around €5m (£4.2m) for the 24-year-old, who is also wanted by Roma.

Lazaar has been capped 16 times at senior level by Morocco and can play as a left-sided winger, as well as at full-back.

He signed for Palermo from Varese in 2014 and has since made in excess of 70 league appearances for the pink-clad club.
