Arthur Masuaku has been absent from West Ham United’s last six competitive matches due to a ban.

The defender was suspended by the Football Association for spitting at Wigan Athletic midfielder Nick Powell during the Hammers’ FA Cup defeat.

Much of the talk surrounding the club has been about the unsavoury scenes that dominated West Ham’s 3-0 defeat to Burnley.

A handful of pitch invasions disrupted the match, and even cub captain Mark Noble was forced to intervene as he grappled with a supporter.

The Hammers will not play again until after the international break when they take on Southampton at St Mary’s on March 31.

Attention has now turned to Masuaku as he is now available to play having served his suspension.

During his absence, recent signing Patrice Evra has played in the role, while Michail Antonio has also on occasion been tasked with filling in.

West Ham fans on Reddit have been discussing whether Masuaku should be thrown straight into the fold by manager David Moyes.
