Mark Noble has not always had West Ham United fans onside, and now his position in the team has sparked a debate.

According to the Daily Mail, manager Manuel Pellegrini is considering dropping the club captain from the first XI.

The Chilean coach, who won the Premier League title while in charge of Manchester City, recruited nine new players in the summer transfer window.

One of them was Jack Wilshere, who has lined up alongside Noble in the middle of the park for league matches against Liverpool and Bournemouth.

Both of those fixtures ended in defeat, and now the Daily Mail is suggesting that Noble could be benched for this Saturday's clash against Arsenal at the Emirates.

The publication claims that Pellegrini wants more potency in midfield, and he has Pedro Obiang and Carlos Sanchez available to choose from.

On Twitter, some West Ham fans have been discussing whether Noble should be axed, and there have been some split views.
