West Ham United's optimism following the recent appointment of David Moyes may have weakened slightly due to Sunday's result.

The Scotsman was appointed as Slaven Bilic's successor almost a fortnight ago and had the international break to assess his squad.

First up for the former Manchester United boss was a trip to Vicarage Road to face Watford.

Pressure was on for Moyes to get off to a winning start, but he was unable to do so as Will Hughes and Richarlison got on the scoresheet for the Hornets.

The result was West Ham's seventh Premier League defeat of the season and their fifth consecutive game without a win.

A large number of fans were underwhelmed when Moyes was given the job, and their stance is unlikely to have changed following Sunday's match.

After the final whistle, captain Mark Noble spoke to the media and urged the supporters to stand by the team in these difficult times.

As expected, the fans had plenty to say in response.
