Marko Arnautovic endured plenty of criticism in the early stages of the season from West Ham United fans due to his failings in front of goal.

Now, though, the Austrian has got the supporters onside thanks to his current scoring form.

The attacking player has netted six times in his last eight outings for the Hammers, and that has been in part due to new manager David Moyes, who at times has played Arnautovic as the focal point.

On Saturday, the former Stoke City player, who signed for West Ham last summer, scored in a 4-1 rout over Huddersfield Town at the John Smith's Stadium.

Mark Noble also got on the scoresheet, while Manuel Lanzini was lucky in front of goal twice.

After the match, some fans claimed that Arnautovic's status among the supporters is growing, and that he could replace Dimitri Payet in terms of importance to the team.

Payet was a huge fan favourite, but the relationship turned sour when he forced through a return to Marseille last January.

It seems that Arnautovic could be the one to eventually heal those wounds.
