Javier Hernandez arrived at West Ham United from Bayer Leverkusen last year with plenty of promise.

The Mexico international was already well known to Premier League watchers having spent five years at Manchester United earlier in his career.

Hernandez garnered a reputation for scoring important goals, but that has been far from the case at the London Stadium.

In fact, the forward has only found the back of the net nine times in 40 appearances for the Hammers.

With Marko Arnautovic being the main man, Hernandez has had to settle for a bit-part role under Manuel Pellegrini this season.

The 30-year-old has only featured in six Premier League matches and is yet to complete a full 90 minutes in the top flight.

In seven outings in all competitions, Hernandez has struck the back of the net once, and on Wednesday night he played 59 minutes against Tottenham Hotspur in the EFL Cup.

The striker failed to make an impact in the 3-1 loss on home soil, and the overwhelming reaction from the fans was that Hernandez is one of a handful who they believe should be shipped out.
