West Ham United have no interest in signing Yaya Toure on a free transfer this summer, according to club insider ExWHUEmployee.
In an exclusive column for thewesthamway.co.uk, the reliable source discussed the club’s transfer plans, which included rumours regarding Toure.
The Ivory Coast international, who has earned 102 caps for his country, is a free agent after ending an eight-season spell at Manchester City.
According to a recent report in the Daily Mail, the Hammers had opened talks regarding a deal for Toure.
However, ExWHUEmployee states that the East London outfit have no interest in pursuing the controversial figure as he lacks pace and at 35 years of age, is deemed too old.
There is no doubt that Toure brings quality and experience to a club. but he may not be the right fit at this stage of West Ham’s progress.
The club will attempt to start fresh with new manager Manuel Pellegrini at the helm.
Even though Toure has game-changing capabilities, the Hammers are in need of some energy and zest in the middle of the park.
Bringing in a younger target could be the way to go for West Ham, who do not want to find themselves in another relegation battle.
On top of that, controversy sometimes follows Toure around, and the Hammers could certainly do without a disruptive figure.
