West Ham United suffered a surprise exit from the FA Cup this afternoon.
David Moyes’s side were taking on League Two opposition Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium in the fourth round of the competition.
Two goals from Will Grigg, the second of which was from the penalty spot, secured a 2-0 victory for the Latics.
It was an eventful encounter as the Hammers lost two men, one was to injury as Pedro Obiang was stretchered off just after the half-hour mark.
Thirteen minutes later, Arthur Masuaku was given a straight red card by the referee for appearing to spit at Wigan’s Nick Powell.
Overall, it was a disappointing afternoon for the Hammers, who have now seen their list of absentees grown.
Masuaku is expected to serve a ban, while Andy Carroll, Manuel Lanzini, Marko Arnautovic and Obiang are all on the treatment table.
After the final whistle blew, West Ham fans gave their reactions to the result and performance on Twitter.
Not too bothered about the cup tbh but it is now ridiculous how many players we have out injured/suspended ?. I would literally take a point at home to Palace on Tuesday #coyi

Knocked out of the FA Cup by Wigan, a league one side. SMH.
Our board is horrible for not making any signings during our decent run, before injuries.

What an awful display. Can't even really say @WestHamUtd played badly because we actually didn't play at all!
Poor performances from every player and Masuaku needs to get fined immediately.#WestHam #WIGWHU #COYI pic.twitter.com/MdaPOQU69P

Very disappointed in the results but still not the end of the season for us.
We still have the @premierleague to play more and prove our point, so this the time as fans to give them our 100% support.#COYI #AFRICA #WHUFC #LONDON

Got exactly what we deserved. Nothing. Which I think the club will be extremely happy about. No effort put in today. More injuries. God knows who will be available for Palace. We need new players and quick #COYI
