Former Premier League striker Michael Owen has claimed that if there is a winner between West Ham United and Arsenal this week at the London Stadium, it will be the hosts.
David Moyes’s side head into the clash on a high following their surprise victory over Chelsea at the weekend.
Marko Arnautovic’s early goal was the difference as the team won their first game since Moyes replaced Slaven Bilic at the helm last month.
Arsenal are hunting for their first win in three league attempts following a 3-1 defeat to Manchester United and a 1-1 draw with Southampton.
The Hammers have not beaten the Gunners since 2015 when they earned a 2-0 triumph at the Emirates.
The last two meetings have gone Arsenal’s way, and across those fixtures West Ham conceded eight goals.
Owen believes, though, that the East London outfit are playing the Gunners at a good time.
Among his predictions for BetVictor, the retired striker said:
“A fascinating game at the London Stadium with West Ham looking to build on a fabulous win against champions Chelsea at the weekend and Arsenal desperate to return to winning ways having salvaged a point at St Mary’s courtesy of Olivier Giroud’s late header.
“Arsene Wenger must do without the injured Aaron Ramsay, which is a blow to the Gunners, and I was taken with the Hammers spirit and defensive qualities against Chelsea. If there is to be a winner midweek, I think it will be the hosts.”
