West Ham United midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate has suggested that he will be targeting one specific Liverpool player this weekend.

The 28-year-old hopes to ruin Sadio Mane's day, despite the pair being friends due to the pair's time together on the international stage with Senegal.

The Hammers will be underdogs heading to Anfield given that Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side have scored 12 goals in their last four games in all competitions.

The most recent match was a 5-0 thumping over Porto in the Champions League, while West Ham's last game ended in a 2-0 victory over Watford.

Both teams will be fresh for the contest on Saturday afternoon as they had a week off due to being out of the FA Cup.

Mane has formed a formidable attacking trio alongside Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.

The attacker nabbed a hat-trick against Porto, so he will be full of confidence when welcoming West Ham to Merseyside.

Kouyate, though, is hopeful that he and his teammates can cause an upset.

While speaking to West Ham's official website, the midfielder said:

“We are going to play against one of the best teams in the league and there are some good players there, including Sadio Mane. I know him and I like to play against my friends. Every time we play, he wants to win, but maybe he won’t this time because we also want to win there. We have a few days to work hard because we have a big, big game at Anfield and we want to go there and do something special for the fans.”
