West Ham weigh up Bosman move

Romania's Ciprian MaricaWest Ham are planning a move for free agent Ciprian Marica, according to reports from The Express.

The Romanian international – who was linked with a shock move to Arsenal over the summer – was released by Schalke earlier this year, and is currently without a club.

Sam Allardyce was believed to have made securing a striker his top priority in the closing days of the transfer window, but he was unable to draft in a suitable target.

He has since seen a move to re-sign Carlton Cole – who was released by the Hammers – thwarted due to fitness reasons.

This has caused ‘Big Sam’ turn his attention to Marica, who would be free to join the Londoners’ squad immediately due to being out of contract.

The 27-year-old is seen as a better option than Cole by the club, and could be keen to make a move to England to get his career back on track.

There are concerns surrounding his fitness levels, but Allardyce is thought to be ready to take a risk with Andy Carroll still sidelined through injury.

Marica would bring a wealth of experience having played in the Champions League and won the Ukrainian league title with Shakhtar Donetsk.

West Ham fans, would Ciprian Marica be a good signing?
