According to The Sun, West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini has ruled out the club making a move to pick up free agent Yaya Toure.

Toure left Manchester City at the end of last season after picking up his third Premier League title with the club. However, over the course of the last two campaigns, Toure’s playing time at the Etihad has been limited as age has caught up with him and new arrivals have forced him down the pecking order.

Now a free agent, the powerhouse midfielder must be an attractive proposition to many clubs. One club who have no interest in securing the 35-year-old’s services though is West Ham.

Pellegrini was in charge at Man City whilst Toure enjoyed his finest playing days there - there will be no reunion between the two at the London Stadium however.

This is evidence of West Ham learning from their transfer mistakes of recent years. Signing over-the-hill ex-City stars has become something of a habit for the Hammers recently, with Joe Hart and Pablo Zabaleta both having failed to recapture their old magic for the East London club last time out.

Signing Toure now, as he's no longer physically capable of matching the demands of Premier League football, would be another acquisition in the vein of Zabaleta, Hart and Patrice Evra.

So, West Ham fans, is Pellegrini right to reject Toure? Let us know by voting on our poll below...
