It certainly wasn't the result that West Ham United fans would have wanted on Wednesday night, as one of their arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur advanced through to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

While the Irons are enduring yet another inconsistent season that has been blighted by injuries to plenty of their players, their arch-rivals are enjoying great success in European competition.

Beating Manchester City has set them up with a clash against Ajax as they bid to reach the final in May, and they will certainly fancy their chances of making it to Madrid for it.

Hammers supporters have taken to the Knees Up Mother Brown forum to have their say on Spurs' achievement.

What have they been posting?

Any surprise comments?

In a way some of them certainly are given more than one person is actually congratulating Tottenham on their feat rather than simply feeling down and envious.

You would expect all West Ham fans to be particularly upset about seeing one of their major rivals have a chance of reaching for the Champions League final, but instead some are even focusing on their own club's issues instead.

Saying they are jealous of Spurs and the realisation of how just how far away they are from a similar achievement is indicative of how little progress the east London outfit have made in recent years.
