Sofiane Feghouli joined West Ham United from Valencia in the summer of 2016.
The midfielder penned a three-year contract with the Hammers upon his arrival, but was gone 12 months later after finding it difficult to make his mark in England.
The 29-year-old has scored 13 times and registered seven assists in 40 appearances for his Turkish club during the 2018-19 campaign.
Feghouli’s talent was never really in question.
And a number of West Ham fans have claimed that their club should have kept hold of the versatile midfielder for longer than one season, although not everyone agrees with those sentiments.
That ship has well and truly sailed, but it seems that Feghouli did make a positive impression on some fans despite finding it tough to show his best form.
A selection of the Twitter reaction from the Hammers supporters can be seen below:
Always said we should have kept! https://t.co/FgKa6mxje7

Agree with this. Feghouli would’ve been great in the current squad as well. Never understood why we let him go on the cheap

Feghouli was made a scapegoat for a woefully underachieving side. His confidence was shot but you could see there was a player there

Would happily have him back as cover for Anderson
