What Liverpool’s icon and Man City’s newbie really meant

As ever, the past seven days in the wonderful world of football have been crammed with news, intrigue and controversy. The transfer window is well and truly in full swing, and with great moves come great levels of discussion.

Perhaps the biggest incident in realising you’ve made a terrible choice and backtracking history took place as Fabian Delph completed a bizarre move from Aston Villa to Manchester City. Okay, swapping relegation battlers for title contenders is by no means a shock, but given that the England international had rebuffed a move just days before and talked up “loyalty”, the switch has generated some debate to say the least!

Stevie Gerrard has also made his long-awaited switch to Major League Soccer, slipping on Los Angeles Galaxy’s white jersey of retirement in California. He’s made his bow, scored a goal and even bought the fans a few brewskis… he’s sure to tear it up in a division where Bradley Wright-Phillips is a lethal marksman!

Our very own Marcus Speller has taken a look at what the aforementioned pair, and whole host of other stars, have been saying, revealing the, possible, truth behind their quotes. Enjoy.
