What's being dubbed 'Red Monday' is upon us, with Liverpool hosting Manchester United in one of the season's true glamour ties.

Tonight's clash between two of English football's giants will rekindle the flame of rivalry between both sets of supporters who have had an... erm... frosty relationship through the years.

Liverpool will be attempting to go joint top of the Premier League, but come up against an in-form Jose Mourinho team. Reds supporters will be keen to overcome the Red Devils, whom they have failed to beat at home in league action since 2013.

United, on the other hand, have ended their recent losing form with three wins from four, but they have not looked convincing since their Derby defeat to Manchester City.

But, where does this fixture rank for you among the elite European clashes? Here are FIVE other tasty fixtures...

5. Milan Derby - Inter Milan v AC Milan

In recent years this fixture has fallen down the pecking order in terms of importance but the strong disliking between the both sets of supporters remains intense.

With both teams struggling to compete for European qualification it's fair to say both teams are attempting a rebuilding process at the moment.

Inter and AC Milan are two of Italy's biggest club's and their rivalry divides their city on a daily basis. Current league positions should not downplay the importance of this San Siro duel.

4. Der Klassiker - Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund

The rivalry between both clubs grew in the 1990s when the teams battled for supremacy in the Bundesliga. The first phase of the rivalry was between 1994 and 1998 where Dortmund claimed two titles and won the Champions League at Bayern's home ground.

The second phase started in 2010, resulting in five consecutive wins for Dortmund in this fixture. The climax of their rivalry came in the 2013 Champions League final which saw Bayern overcome their German rivals. The game is widely anticipated by every European football fan.

3. Manchester Derby - Manchester City v Manchester United

Manchester United v Manchester City - Premier League

For a number of years, this game was almost a meaningless game to everyone but Manchester City fans. However, since the Middle Eastern takeover of Manchester City in 2008, the fixture has taken significant importance for everyone in England.

Recently, City have had the vast majority of success between the two clubs with them losing just three times in six years against United - opposed to City's six victories.

The fixture has had a major importance on the destination of Premier League titles, most notably in April 2012 when Vincent Kompany's header secured victory for City and enabled them to capture their illustrious first Premier League title.

The rivalry has been fueled by the proximity of the two major cities that they represent along with the success they have both experienced. The two clubs are the most successful English teams in both domestic and European competitions.

Their popularity at home and abroad, as two of the biggest-earning and widely supported football clubs in the world, has enabled the fixture to become a worldwide craze. In recent years, the rivalry has had little importance in terms of the league title chase, though.

1. El Clasico - Real Madrid v Barcelona

FC Barcelona v Celtic - UEFA Champions League Group Stage - Group C

Is there really a bigger fixture on the planet than this? The game is much more than a football match as it represents two political cultures and the quest to be the dominant city in Spain.

In the past decade, Barcelona have become one of, if not the, best club teams ever assembled and, if anything, they have certainly underachieved. Madrid, on the other hand, have desperately underachieved in Spain but have shone in Europe.
