Wigan Athletic have failed with a fresh offer for Swansea City midfielder Ferrie Bodde.
The 27-year-old Dutchman has been the subject of interest from the Latics throughout the summer after former Swans boss Roberto Martinez made the move to the Premier League club.
Martinez signed Bodde for the Welsh club two years ago but the player will not be heading to Wigan in the current transfer window, according to chairman Huw Jenkins.
"The terms of the payment have improved, but our stance on Ferrie remains the same and the offer has been rejected," Jenkins told his club's official website.
"Ferrie is edging closer to full fitness and we are all looking forward to seeing him pulling on a Swansea shirt again and bolstering Paulo Sousa's squad."
Martinez has already raised Swansea for Jason Scotland and Jordi Gomez since leaving the Championship club.
