Wolverhampton Wanderers have confirmed the signing of Rochdale full-back Luke Matheson.

The 17-year-old, who already has a goal against Manchester United to his name, has signed permanently and will return to Rochdale for the rest of the season.

Judging by the replies to Wolves' announcement tweet, the club's fans are absolutely thrilled about the signing.

Matheson has received plenty of supportive messages saying "welcome to the pack", showing how excited fans are to have him among their ranks.

There are also responses wishing him well for the rest of the season at Rochdale, who currently sit 18th in the League One table and will be looking to avoid relegation.

One added "see you in the summer", indicating how pleased they are that he will be at the Molineux Stadium.

However, it is the prospect of what he can do in years to come that has truly got fans excited, with the teenager being touted as a "future captain" by some.

Despite being just 17 years old, the full-back has already made 31 appearances for Rochdale, showing the type of quality amongst men that gets a Premier League side interested.
