Wolverhampton Wanderers are going to be set for a busy January. That much is already known.

Manager Nuno Santo himself has confirmed that he intends to strengthen his squad while BirminghamLive have reported that the club desire central options in both midfield and in defence.

One player that has since been linked with the club is Aurelien Tchouameni, who has been likened to Paul Pogba despite his short and limited career to date.

The 19-year-old is a central midfielder for Bordeaux in Ligue 1. He is valued at £6.3m by Transfermarkt.

On the Chalkboard

If the club were able to clinch such an emerging talent, then it would subsequently raise question marks over the future of Morgan Gibbs-White, who has rarely been seen in the past few months due to injury.

The academy graduate has played ten times this campaign, but for only 120 minutes in the Premier League, meaning both Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho have had to take the bulk of the action while Leander Dendoncker deputises in defence with Willy Boly and Ryan Bennett both absent.

Over the course of his Molineux career, the 19-year-old (it's easy to forget he's so young) has played pretty much every midfield and forward role possible, but his returns are far from what you'd expect - just one goal and one assist from 64 appearances, via Transfermarkt.

Tchouameni has been thriving in a 3-4-3 system for Bordeaux which would make him an ideal fit for Nuno as that has been the formation which has brought the club the most success.

Along with the Pogba comparisons, former Brighton boss Gus Poyet claimed that the Frenchman has an 'extraordinary future,' which only adds to the weight of the argument that he could replace Gibbs-White in midfield.
