Wolverhampton Wanderers have received a major boost ahead of tonight's Europa League tie with SC Braga as their manager Nuno Santo played down reports linking him to another managerial position.

What's he said?

The west Midlanders are on a meteoric rise under the Portuguese native, so it was always likely that clubs would come calling eventually.

Under the 45-year-old, Wolves won the Championship title in 2018 and have since qualified for a European competition for the first time in nearly 40 years.

They have continued to impress this season as a draw tonight is enough to see them into the knockout stages while Nuno's side also currently occupy fifth place in the Premier League.

Pressure has mounted on Arsenal boss Unai Emery for a few weeks now with some reports suggesting that the Wolves manager is high on their list of potential replacements.

However, Nuno has eased fears this week after speaking in his pre-match press conference, he said:

"I will never mention an issue that is not a reality, so I'm not going to answer about that, mainly because speaking about a job that has a manager on it would be disrespectful. I will not do so.

"There are no distractions at all. I don't talk about ifs, possibilities, things that are not real.

"What is real is that we have to prepare ourselves (for the game). We have to compete well as it's going to be tough. No distractions at all."

Major boost

This comes as huge news ahead of a potentially defining game as any doubts the players or anyone involved at the club had about their future have now been put to rest, just like that.

The last thing Wolves needed was some sort of speculation that would cause uncertainty and unrest amongst a side that is doing so well to compete on all fronts this season.

Nuno's comments will give the side a boost tonight knowing that the Portuguese manager is fully committed to them, and also for the rest of their season as he has proven loyal qualities.

It's not as if the Arsenal job is even available either, Emery will still be in charge when the Gunners play their Europa League tie tonight too, so the Wolves boss is spot on to label it as something that isn' real.

Meanwhile, have Wolves already found Jesus Vallejo's replacement amidst reports he will be recalled in January?
