Wolverhampton Wanderers’ proposed deal to sign Manchester City midfielder Oleksandr Zinchenko has fallen through on deadline day according to Sky Sports.
The 21-year-old joined City in 2016 and made eight Premier League appearances last season, filling in at left-back after injuries to Benjamin Mendy and Fabian Delph.
The Ukraine international was the subject of a £16million bid from Wolves which was accepted by Manchester City and a medical was lined up.
However, the versatile midfielder opted instead to stay at the Etihad this season and try and gain more experience under Pep Guardiola for the champions, according to the report.
The deal hasn’t spoiled what has been an excellent transfer window for Wolves who completed deals for established stars such as Joao Moutinho and Rui Patricio.
Wolves fans have been reacting on social media to the news that Zinchenko’s deal fell through on deadline day and here’s a selection of what they’ve had to say.
No need to hate on Zinchenko. If the lad backs himself to make it at City fair play to him.

The door was open and it was down to him to walk through.
To be honest though he might be a young talent with potential but he’s not really a defender so it would have been a risk for us.

A good player whose heart lies elsewhere. Time to move on.

No hate but only want people who want to play for us. Pointless trying to force it through.

You win some you lose some. Just buzzing for the season to start now

Fair enough. He obviously backs himself to break through which shows the quality and ambition of our recruiting plans. It’s also why I was surprised we didn’t go for a loan deal.
I don’t blame him at all and anyone criticising him is embarrassing. Let’s move on to the next one.

A talented player, that would be a great addition, but if he don’t want to play for us, then we don’t want a player, that could upset the team.

Shame because he is a very gifted player HOWEVER if his heads not in it let him stay and play in the city reserves….

I can understand him wanting to try to fight for his place at City but i think come January he might be regretting it. Could revisit January but i think Nuno will have moved on. 🐺🐺

Dodged a bullet. He’s happy to play reserve football, not the right kind of player for us.
